Hʋshi Hoops

This design is inspired by sun circles often found on artifacts from the Mississippian/Mound Builder societies of the Southeast, the origins of the Choctaw People. In traditional Choctaw culture, the sun is understood as the eye of God, and it is recognized as playing a central role in sustaining life. A common Chahta Anumpa (Choctaw language) word for God is Hʋshtahili -- a blend of Hʋshi Atahli meaning the Sun’s Completed Order. These sterling silver hoops measure 2.5" in diameter. They are made with size 11/0, turquoise-colored, glass seed beads.
