Zachariah Julian ‎

Zachariah Julian is a singer/songwriter from the Jicarilla Apache Nation. His most recent album, Oblique, features six art rock tracks influenced by Tom Waits, Trent Reznor, and Pink Floyd. Oblique was nominated for two New Mexico Music Awards and three Native American Music Awards. Zach lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is a digital media, artistic producer, and podcast host for We Are the Seeds, a Philadelphia-based Indigenous arts organization. He has written one musical, The Coyote and the Drum, and is currently at work on a new play and a new album.

Zack grew up playing the piano. He studied music theory and composition at the University of New Mexico, intending to compose music for movies and television. He began pursuing music as a fine art when he started singing, inspired by Reznor, who moved from pop-music success to writing award-winning movie soundtracks. Zack channels his emotions into his songwriting, and is always heartened when people tell him that one of his songs made them cry, or reminded them of a specific day in their childhood. He studied with a Medicine Man for many years, and believes in the power of music to focus the mind and aid in the healing of trauma.
